Jean-Marc Salzmann, baritone 

Reknowned baritone Jean-Marc Salzmann is recognized for his velvety voice and his actor's talents.

 

Jean-Marc Salzmann is currently touring  in 2019 in the role of Sharpless of Madama Butterfly in which he receives wonderful reviews.
Jean-Marc Salzmann has appeared in Montreal's 2017-18 as Fileno in Nicandro et Fileno with Les Boréades de Montréal and Nouvel Opéra and in concerts with his duet OperAccordéon, notably at Montreal's Salle Bourgie. In Europe, he was last year Créon in Cherubini's "Médée" at the Rouen Opera in a staging by Jean-Yves Ruff and also at the Bregenz Festival in the creation "To The Lighthouse" based from Virginia Woolf and Music by Zesse Seglia with Opéra Nomadic.

 

In 2015-16 he performed In the role of Sacristan in Tosca to the operas of Nice and Marseilles, in Cinderella Pauline Viardot at FestivalOpéra of St. Eustache in Quebec, in the role of Baron Pictordu, at Kontzerhaus Vienna in the Mass for the dead Gossec with the orchestra  "   Les Siècles” under the direction of Francis Xavier Roth in Tosca (Sagrestano) at the Opéra de Toulon and St Etienne, and “La Belle Hélène” (Calchas) of Offenbach at the Opéra de Tours.

 

All in recent months took him on the road with the accordionist Pierre Cussac, browse shows, theater foyers or other unusual places and discover, as in the tradition of the Second Empire, or Schubertiade, the largest directory opera (Berlioz, Donizetti, Lehar, Offenbach, Massenet, Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, etc.).

 

He performs in musical works as narrator in “Pierre et le loup” of Prokofiev, as actor  in Mozart's "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" in German language, that he had recently performed at Opéra de Metz in January 2015, Leonard Bernstein's "Wonderful Town" and also the role of Lamb, the cook of "Mother Courage and his children" of Bertolt Brecht with Théâtre de la Vallée. Jean-Marc Salzmann is associated artist and artistic adviser of Imperial Theater of Compiègne  (France).  He sang in “Carmen” at Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne in the creation of “Dreyfus” musical by Michel Legrand and Didier Van Cauwelaert, at Opéra de Nice.  After that, he has toured in different cities with Opéraccordeon and the young accordionist Pierre Cussac, to browse trough lounges of theater or other atypical places and make discovering, as in the tradition of the French second empire or the “Schubertiades”, the big opera repertoire (Donizetti, Lehár, Offenbach, Massenet, Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, etc)…  Last August he joined the Orchestra “Les Siècles” conducted by François Xavier Roth alongside Anna Caterina Antonacci, Michael Spyres and Nicolas  Courjal  in Berlioz's “the Damnation  of Faust » to  the “Festival Berlioz de La Côte Saint André”.

 

He sang in Carmen at the Festspielhaus of Baden Baden and at the opera Hong-Kong conducted by Teodor Currentzis and directed by Philippe Arlaud, in “Madama Butterfly” at Opéra de Dijon with Jean François Sivadier as director and Pascal Verrot as conductor, and in Poulenc's "Les Mamelles"  de Tiresias” in Austria and at Imperial Theater of Compiègne.

 

Recently, He was Alberich in "Der Ring in einem Abend" for the remembrances of the city of Bayreuth for the bicentenary of Richard Wagner's birth. He creates a lot of contemporary works for the theater as well as for the ilia, Tosca).  We saw him in broadcast "La Boite à musique de Jean François Zygel" on France 2 channel.
