Chartré-Salov

Berenice must leave Rome. Titus must let her go.

Between them, an impossible love and music that speaks where words fail.

Rita Strohl's sumptuous Dramatic Sonata, inspired by Racine, is at the heart of a program that explores the passions of composers like Huré, Dvořák, and Smetana. An afternoon of rediscovery and emotion.

Triumph in Italy yesterday, May 31, 2026, for the World Premiere of LOVE UNFOLDING, Op. 101, by our renowned composer Andrew Paul MacDonald and the Filarmonica Campana Orchestra, conducted by Giulio Marazia!

"Soundscapes"

...Situated between Gian Francesco Malipiero's Impressions from Life and Ottorino Respighi's Fountains of Rome, LOVE UNFOLDING represents a point of convergence between different conceptions of musical form: from the fragmentation of the 20th century to impressionistic-inspired timbral construction, and finally to the contemporary idea of process.

In this dialogue, MacDonald's composition underscores how the notion of development, far from being obsolete, remains a fundamental principle of musical thought, even if its presuppositions and modalities are profoundly transformed.

The world premiere of LOVE UNFOLDING is therefore not only a significant moment in the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana's programming, but also an opportunity to reflect on the contemporary meaning of musical development: a process in which sound, like a living organism, unfolds over time until it reveals its essence.
