The renowned mezzo Odette Beaupré is known for her rich voice and her
fascinating interpretation of roles that allow her to create ingenious and highly appreciated productions.
She successfully directed Offenbach's "La Belle Hélène" at the Opéra de Rimouski in June 2008. The critics were seduced by her sense of detail, the direction of the game and her ability to integrate well. choirs throughout the production. In the summer of 2010, it was the didactic creation of "Outdoor Carmen" which was presented to the general public on the camp site as a backdrop, with the contribution of campers as soloists and choristers and the participation of a part of choir of the Rimouski opera, Claude Robin Pelletier Raymond Perrin and Sylvie Lamothe formed with Madame Beaupré the team supervising all the production which had a great success.
Her recent engagements in 2019,on September 7, include for the 50th anniversary of the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (UQTR): soloist with her small vocal ensemble Multi-Plus and some private multi-voice private students, in the COGECO room from Trois-Rivières, stage opera workshops to singers at the Conservatoire de musique de Cannes, in July, as part of the week of the Conservatoire de Cannes Academy in Quebec repertoire, in August 2018, as part of of the Summer Festival of Sanctuary Our Lady of Cap-de-la-Madeleine, she presented in duet with soprano Lyne Fortin, the "Stabat mater" of Pergolesi. They were accompanied by the string ensemble of the OSTR and organs. In May 2018, she joined the production of the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra taking on the role of "Dame Martha" in Gounod's "Faust". In December 2018, she produced a guide to learning vocal technique and basic musical training "Voice, body and music are one." This guide, inspired by personal experiences, is aimed at private and group teaching students at Voix Multiples and at the Multi-Plus Leisure Center which she has been teaching and creating since the fall of 2014 "Singing Group Classes".
During the summer of 2018, she attended a choral training course at the Université de Montréal with Raymond Perrin, a course organized by Alliance Choral, as a free and participating listener in the choir. In February 2017, she presented the Trifluvian public at the St-James Art Center, a recital to mark the 15 years of her singing school. She performed, accompanied on the piano by Martin Harvey, about twenty works from operettas and operas, musicals, French, Italian and German melodies.
Odette Beaupré has regularly participated in radio and television recordings. Her discography includes the recording of "El amor Brujo" by Manuel de Falla and "Ramillette de Canciones Populares" by José Evangelista under the direction of Véronique Lacroix, with the Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal, on ATMA label. Criticism is unanimous in praising the richness of her voice and her presence on stage.
Her last engagements, as a soloist, are with Hamilton Opera in Ontario for the production "The Nozze di Figaro" of Mozart, in the role of Marcellina. The following year, she sang, with the same company "The Daughter of the Regiment" Donizetti, the role of The Marquise. In April 2005, she was at the Ottawa NAC with Opera Lyra to create the role of John Estacio's La Mamma in contemporary opera "Fiumena".
She was a teacher of the singing and directing class at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières from 1995 until the closing of the department in 2001. She was assistant director for Opera Lyra. Ottawa in Verdi's "Il Trovatore" production at the National Arts Center in Ottawa.
Subsequently, in June 2001, she created Voix Multiples, a vocal arts and accompaniment institute in Trois-Rivières. Madame Beaupré is still today, the director general, a teacher of singing and auditory training. She prepares singers of all ages as amateurs, singers and future professionals. In order to gain access to higher schools such as CEGEP, University and Conservatory of Music Singing, she works with them to perfect their vocal technique, their knowledge of the repertoire, their levels of auditory training and musical knowledge and favors audition situations and concerts in front of the public. A team of competent teachers are attached to her private teaching house.
In 2009, she joined the Musical Camp of St-Alexandre and held at the end of August, a one-week session of an adult music camp: "Multiple Voices and its didactic opera": the meeting of soloists, Chœur Camp and Grand Chœur offered at the end of the camp a creation entitled "Mozart Enchanted" under the direction and stage direction assumed by Ms. Beaupré and the musical direction by Raymond Perrin. The show was given in the chapel of the college (St-Anne), as part of the 150th anniversary of the agricultural school of La Pocatière.
For the last few years, she has joined the professors of the Trois-Rivières Multi-Plus Leisure Center where she offers "group singing" workshops. She has created a small vocal ensemble with a few students and offers small concerts, especially inseniors' residences. She has also presented masterclasses in the Mauricie region and previously in Ontario for various choral organizations. Odette Beaupré is a graduate of the Quebec Conservatory of Music and First Prize at the Toronto International Music / Dance Festival. She has perfected herself in the United States with such renowned masters as Marlena Malas and Joan Dorneman, as well as at the Toronto Canadian Opera Workshop.
Her career has taken her everywhere in Canada and the United States. Odette Beaupré has more than fifty roles in her repertoire. The roles of "Carmen" from the opera of the same name as well as Suzuki from "Madame Butterfly" were often on her agenda during her 25-year career. She has been a guest of several Montreal and Quebec opera houses, most recently with the Opéra de Montréal, as Arnalta of Monteverdi's "Inconronazione di Poppe".
