THÉO RAFFIN
Baritone
Théo Raffin is a young baritone who stands out for his timbre, his musicality and a voice with a wide range.
It all began for him at the Tarbes Conservatory, taking classical singing lessons with Anne-Laure Touya. He then entered the Bordeaux Conservatory with Sharon Coste Poras. In 2021, after having just graduated with a degree in musicology (contemporary music, jazz and French song), Théo was accepted at the University of Montreal to continue his vocal training. The same year he began a master's degree in music education remotely with a French university, which he will validate with honors in 2023. Recipient of several scholarships of excellence and after having validated in 2024 his master's degree in classical singing with honors, the congratulations of the jury and the rector's list, the young baritone is currently finishing his advanced professional studies diploma of 3rd cycle in this same institution under the watchful eyes of Richard Margison and Ariane Girard.
Spotted by the Trois-Rivières opera, he is called in May 2023 to interpret Zurga in the pearl fishermen as well as Guglielmo in Così Fan Tutte in September 2023. The young baritone is also requested for the Opera de poche project co-directed by the Montreal opera. He will also go on an exchange for 1 week in October 2023 to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon to work on French melody with Mireille Delunsch, among others. He will also participate in 2023 and 2024 in the Canadian Institute of Vocal Art. In 2024, Théo distinguished himself by being part of the cohort of Young Lyrical Ambassadors of Canada.
To date, Théo Raffin has several roles to his credit: Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Frank in Die Fledermaus, Zurga in Les Pêcheurs de perles, Escamillo in the Tragedy of Carmen, Guglielmo in Cosi Fan Tutte, Peter in Hansël et Gretel. He will perform the role of Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore with the Jerusalem Opera Studio next July. He has also had the chance to work with international caliber artists such as Margo Garett, James Vaughan, Laurent Philippe, Joan Dornemann, Mathieu Pordoy, Bruno Laplante, Pierre Vallet, Tracy Dahl, Christian Immler and Étienne Dupuis.
