JULIE VERCAUTEREN
Mezzo Colorature

Described as a true Mozartian voice by Klassik Centraal, Julie Vercauteren performed the role of Annio (Clemenza di Tito) at the Brussels Mozartiade Festival.
The luminous color of her voice allows her to interpret both soprano and mezzo coloratura repertoire, which suits her perfectly.

In Germany, she performed the soprano solo in Faure's Requiem as well as the soprano II in Mozart's Great Mass in C under the direction of H. Görtz. She performed "La voix" in Caplet's Miroir de Jesus, which she will perform again at the Namur Concert Hall in 2027 alongside Sturm und Klang. She also appeared as the soprano II solo alongside L'Alarcon in Lotti's Mass in G major and Jephte by Carissimi.

She also made her debut at the Liège Opera in Pauline Viardot's The Last Sorcerer and distinguished herself in Maurice Yvain's operetta Yes! She will soon join the Frivolités Parisiennes ensemble for a premiere at the Reims Opera.

She will soon perform L. Ligeti's "La Parole Seule" in Brussels, Vienna, and Budapest alongside the Hopper Ensemble.

Specializing in the Baroque repertoire, she regularly collaborates with Concerto Soave under the direction of Jean-Marc Aymes. She has performed the roles of Alceste (Handel's Admeto), Apollo (Caldara's Contesa de' Numi), the title role of Dafne (Caldara), and Proserpina (Marseille Opera). In Germany, she distinguished herself as Volusio (Hasse's Caio Fabbriccio) at the Halle Handelfestspiel.

In the Oratorio repertoire, Julie Vercauteren performed the soprano solo in Saint-Saëns's Christmas Oratorio alongside the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie. She also performed the soprano solo in Mozart's Coronation Mass and Beethoven's Ruins of Athens under the direction of Patrick Bâton.

Since 2017, Julie has been a regular guest soloist at the Aachen Opera, where she has performed in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Schreier's The Wizard of Oz, Bowie's Lazarus, Glass's Beauty and the Beast, Massenet's Manon, and Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.

At the Brussels Mozart Festival, she sang Annio (La Clemenza di Tito).

She regularly performs in recital, particularly in Germany, where her interpretation of Honegger's melodies in Cologne was praised by the Liedwelt Rheinland. She also sings Neapolitan and Baroque melodies with the Concert de La Loge (Galeries Canesso, Paris) and shares the stage with Sandrine Piau and Éric Le Sage (Namur Concert Hall).

Julie maintains a close relationship with contemporary composers. Michel Fourgon dedicated his cycle Le printemps le dit for voice and cello to her. She also collaborates with Stéphane Orlando and Anno Schreier, and has participated in several premieres in Belgium and Germany.

A graduate of the Musikhochschule Köln, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatory of Liège, Julie has worked with great masters such as Sandrine Piau, Margreet Honig, Ira Siff, Alan Hamilton, Helmut Deutsch, Juliane anse as well as conductors such as Leonardo Garcia Alarcon (Palais des Beaux-Arts), Christophe Rousset (Théâtre an der Wien), Jean-Marc Aymes (Marseille), Justus Thorau, Christopher Ward (Théâtre Aix-la-Chapelle), or more recently Julien Chauvin and the Concert de la Loge...
