Tenor Juan José Medina has a first-class lyrical voice. He impresses with his presence on stage in the truthful interpretation of roles and sensitive musicality.
His upcoming engagements in 2024-25 include the roles of Borghese in AUBER's Manon, Basilio in MOZART's Le Nozze di Figaro and el Padre in VALTINONI's Piccolo Principe at the Teatro Regio di Torino as well as Alfredo in VERDI's La Traviata at the Palau de la Musique Catalane (February 22, 2025).
Recently he performed the role of Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte at the Opéra de Trois-Rivières in Quebec, which he performed magnificently, as well as at the Im Delphi Theater in Berlin - Germany, the role of Don Ottavio in MOZART's "Don Giovanni", at the Musikverein in Vienna - Austria and the role of Rinaldo in GALUPPI's "Il filosofo di campagna" at the Peskine theater in Blois - France.
Juan José MEDINA was born in Paraguay and graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (Master II). He had the honor of participating in several masterclasses, particularly with Teresa BERGANZA, Regina WERNER, Thierry DRAN and Ruggero RAIMONDI. Winner of the Friends of Overseas Voices prize of the Friends of Overseas Voices Competition in 2022, of the New Talents of Lyric Art competition (2nd prize) in Ans (Liège) Belgium and of the Lyric Singing Competition in Béziers ( 3rd prize) in 2018.
He plays Spärlich in “The Merry Wives of Windsor ” by NICCOLAI, Don Ettore in “ La Canterina” by HAYDN, and the Brazilian, Fritz and the Major in “La vie parisienne” by OFFENBACH with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Paris dance. With the Center Lyrique d’Auvergne he performs the one-voice role in “Goyescas” by GRANADOS.
He is regularly requested to sing MOZART's "Requiem", DVORAK's "Messe in D minor", FAURE's "Cantique de Jean RACINE", RODRIGUEZ's "Missa Andina" and ROSSINI's "Petite Messe Solennelle".
In partnership with the pianist Pierre COURTHIADE, he recorded 3 albums: Latino (Latin American songs), Baroque (old tunes in Italian) and Le Colibri (French melodies).
He appeared on stage for the first time at the age of 12 in the chorus of BIZET's opera “Carmen”, then at 18 as a soloist, he made his debut in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”. by ROSSINI and in “Amhal and the night visititors” by MENOTTI.
