Tenor Juan José Medina has a first-class lyrical voice. He impresses with his presence on stage in the truthful interpretation of roles and sensitive musicality.
Juan José Medina is a young French tenor of Paraguayan origin, a Master's graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, France. He has sung under the direction of conductors such as Nicola PASCOLI, Juan Carlos DOS SANTOS, Diego SANCHEZ HAASE, Alessandro PAGLIAZZI, Alessandro POLEGGI, Toby PURSER, Guillaume TOURNIAIRE, and Donato RENZETTI.
He recently performed VERDI's Alfredo "La Traviata" at the Wiener Festspiele 2025 in Vienna, Austria, as well as BIZET's Remendado "Carmen" at the Bastille Amphitheatre of the Paris Opera, and HANDEL's "Acis and Galatea" at the Nice Opera, France.
He will soon perform the roles of Orpheus in TERRASSE's “Les Travaux d'Hercules” at the Marseille Opera (April 2, 2026), Alfredo in Verdi's “La Traviata” at the Palais de la Musique Catalane in Barcelona, Spain (May 2, 2026), and Offenbach's “La vie Parisienne” in Paris (May 12, 2026).
In previous years, he has performed the roles of Un Borghese in Auber's “Manon,” Don Basilio in Mozart's “Le Nozze di Figaro,” and Valtinoni's “Il Padre / L'Uomo d'affari” at the Teatro Regio di Torino. He also performed Matteo in Calafa's “Masaniello” at the Belcanto Opera Festival Rossini in Wildbad in Bad Wildbad, Germany, and at the Royal Opera Festival in Filharmonia in Krakow, Poland. Ferrando sang MOZART's “Così fan Tutte” at the Opéra Trois Rivières in Quebec, Canada, and the In Delphi Theatre in Berlin, Germany. MOZART's “Don Giovanni” at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. Rinaldo sang GALUPPI's “Il filosofo di campagna” at the Théâtre Peskine in Blois, France. Spärlich sang NICCOLAI'S “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” HAYDN'S “La Canterina” in Don Ettore, the Brazilian, OFFENBACH'S “Fritz and the Major” at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, France.
He is often invited to sing as a soloist MOZART's “Requiem,” DVORAK's “Mass in D Minor,” FAURÉ's “Cantique de Jean RACINE,” RODRIGUEZ's “Misa Andina,” and ROSSINI's “Petite Messe Solennelle.”
He has participated in masterclasses with Fabrice DI FALCO, Raúl GIMÉNEZ, Teresa BERGANZA, Regina WERNER, Thierry DRAN, Ruggero RAIMONDI, Michael PAUL, and Dmitry KORCHAK.
Winner of international singing competitions: Takuare'e in Guarambaré, Paraguay (First Prize), New Talents of Lyric Art in Ans, Belgium (Second Prize), Lyric Singing Competition in Béziers, France (Third Prize), and the Amis des Voix d'Outre-mer Competition in Paris, France (Special Prize). He has recorded three albums with French pianist Pierre COURTHIADE: Latino (Latin American songs), Baroque (old Italian arias), and Le Colibri (French melodies).
