Flutist

The exceptional Quebec flautist Nadia Labrie is recognized on the national and international scene and has an impressive career. Ms. Labrie was awarded the distinction of the Relève citoyenne granted by the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec and the President of Celebrations Canada, Marc Garneau.

Nadia Labrie has made numerous TV appearances and many of her concerts have been broadcast on various channels: Société Radio-Canada, CBC Radio One, CBC Radio 2, Bravo!, Biography and CCTV (Asia). In 2018, she released her first solo album Flûte passion: Schubert. In 2020, she launched Flûte passion: Bach, then in 2021, Flûte passion: Mozart, which was nominated in the classical album of the year category at the 2021 ADISQ Gala. Three albums that are part of the " Flûte passion” and which bring together different artistic collaborators in order to introduce the repertoire for the flute.

Since 1998, Nadia and her twin sister Annie Labrie have formed the duo Similia, which was named "the best flute and guitar duo" by Classical Guitar magazine in the United Kingdom. Together, they recorded four albums on the Analekta label: Cantabile, Nota del Sol, Fantasia, Dolce Vita. Their album Nota del Sol won the Félix in the Instrumental Album of the Year category at the 2004 ADISQ Gala while their album Fantasia earned a nomination in the Classical Album of the Year category at the 2006 ADISQ Gala. Since its formation, the duo has distinguished itself on the international scene by presenting more than 500 concerts in 13 countries, including Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Bosnia and Herzegovina , France, Mexico, Guatemala, the United States and Canada.

Recipient of the First Prize with great distinction from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec and holder of a master's degree from the University of Montreal, Nadia Labrie has been a soloist with orchestra on several occasions, performing the Concerto for flute and harp and the Concerto no 2 of Mozart, Concerto No. 7 by Devienne, Concerto Tradicionuevo for flute, guitar and orchestra by Patrick Roux (commissioned Canadian work), Fantaisie Brillante on Carmen by Borne, as well as his adaptation of Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate with the Orchestra of Vienna Chamber, Orchestre symphonique de Québec, Orchestre Classique de Montréal, Arion Orchestre Baroque, Kamloops Symphony (BC) and Orchestre symphonique de l'Estuaire. For two years, she held the role of first flute of the World Orchestra of Musical Youth with which she toured the four corners of the planet with renowned soloists including Anne-Sophie Mutter and James Ehnes, under the direction of great conductors orchestra such as Kurt Masur, Yoav Talmi and Franz-Paul Decker.

A scholarship holder from the CALQ and the FCAR, Nadia Labrie received the Medal from the Governor General of Canada for the excellence of her college studies. She was also a judge for the Canadian Music Competition.

Having developed a keen interest over the past few years for ancient flutes, Nadia perfected her skills with renowned flautist Claire Guimond.
