Pianist Nadia Boucher impresses with her impeccable technique and heartfelt interpretation

Collaborative pianist, she enjoys a very active and diverse musical career. Fluent in English, French, Italian and German, Nadia is currently the Professor of Lyric Diction at the University of Ottawa, where she also works as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist.

 

At home in a broad range of styles, Nadia has performed in recital across North America and Europe. She has had the opportunity of performing with celebrated mezzo-soprano and host of CBC Radio’s Tempo, Julie Nesrallah and renowned bass-baritone John Avey as well as many of Canada’s up and coming artists. She can be heard frequently in recital at various festivals and venues across Canada including, Chamberfest, Music and Beyond, Scotiafest, the Banff Centre and Roy Thomson Hall.

 

She works regularly as a repetiteur and coach for various opera ensembles. An alumnus of the Banff Centre’s Opera as Theatre Program (2009) she has since worked on numerous operatic productions including, “La Traviata” and “Madama ButterYly” (Southern Ontario Lyric Opera), “Cosi fan Tutte”, “L’Elisir D’Amore”, and “Le Docteur Miracle” (Opera Inside Out) and “Suor Angelica”, “I Pagliacci” and “Cendrillon” (SOPAC). Passionate about all genres of music, Nadia has also been music director for various music theatre productions including “RENT” and “Oliver!” (Steppin’ Out Productions). In 2021, she served as music director for “Cadences” an innovative theatrical and musical walk which debuted in Ottawa, and continues to be adapted for performances in various Canadian cities.

 

Nadia holds a Master of Music Degree in Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Bachelor of Music from the University of Ottawa, and an ARCT Performer’s Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has had the privilege of studying with many renowned pedagogues including pianists Jean Desmarais, Anita Pontremoli, and Sheila Paige of the Keyboard Wellness Seminar, vocal coaches Dalton Baldwin, Warren Jones and Linda Jones, and chamber coaches, Julian Armour, Mark Fewer and Roman Borys of the Gryphon Trio.

 

With a passion for learning and teaching, Nadia also maintains an active and competitive private studio. She has also been a faculty member of the University of Ottawa’s Summer Vocal Institute. A recognized adjudicator, Nadia is frequently sought out to give masterclasses to students of various levels for organizations across the province including ORMTA. She is also the web manager for the Canadian Music Showcase and a board member of NATS Ottawa Chapter.
