MARIANA DE LA ROSA
Mezzo
Mariana De La Rosa surprises with her charisma and her warm and lyrical voice with a brilliant technique.
Mariana has had the opportunity to perform in several festivals and prestigious venues, including L’Oasis Musicale in Montreal, the Semaine sherbrookoise de rencontres interculturelles, the AVEC Festival, La Brise Culturelle de la Ville de Sherbrooke, the Pride Sherbrookoise Fière la fête, the week Dialogues, as well as at the Espacio México room of the Consulate General of Mexico. She has also been invited twice to the annual concert of Saint-Sébastien-de-Frontenac, in 2019 and 2023.
Mariana had the honour of performing the Canadian national anthem in front of 3,000 spectators during the Phoenix Pride Match at the Palais des Sports in Sherbrooke in March 2023. She also sang the Mexican and Canadian anthems during the official Mexican Independence ceremonies organized by the Consulate General of Mexico in Montreal in September 2023 and 2024, at the ICAO. In the field of opera, she has participated in several productions as a member of the Nuevo León Opera Chorus in Mexico. In Quebec, she took part in the world premiere of Sortilegio (2023) at the Salle Pierre-Mercure in Montreal and played one of the two characters in Erik Mailhot's chamber opera Où commence l'infini in June and November 2024. In competitions, she participated in the Festival Concours de Musique de Sherbrooke in May 2019, where she won the bronze medal in the Concerto category.
In March 2024, she launched her most ambitious project to date: her first album, Rosas y Espinas. This album explores all the chapters of the book of love through a classical repertoire, mainly Mexican and Italian. Mariana received a grant from the CALQ to promote this album during a concert tour in Quebec and Ontario, where the audience's enthusiasm was palpable at each performance.
In August 2017, Mariana De la Rosa arrived in Quebec from Mexico with a suitcase full of music and dreams. While studying for her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Sherbrooke, this talented mezzo-soprano decided to take the reins of her career and become a self-producer. Her passion for opera is so great that she wants to democratize it through original productions that convey a positive social message. Her creativity has given rise to five concerts: Dualité: concert of opera characters (2017), Et in terra pax: sacred music from various eras (2018 and 2019), Eurotour: classical and European folk music (2020), Synesthésie: music and colors, music and visual arts (2021), and Racines transposées: tribute to French-language songs (2022).
