The Canadian-Chilean mezzo-soprano Javiera Zepeda impresses with her powerful, warm voice and is renowned for her expressive artistry and versatility in the operatic, symphonic, and art song repertoires.

 

Her upcoming engagements in 2025-2026 include Beethoven's Mass in C major with the Cantabile Choir and Orchestra, a concert with the Carmina Symphony Orchestra, and concerts in Chile with pianist Rayna Slavova.

 

Her operatic experience includes the roles of Miss Quickly in Verdi's Falstaff, Fricka in Wagner's Die Walküre, Madame de la Haltière in Massenet's Cendrillon, Juno in Handel's Semele, Isabella in Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri, Tancredi in Rossini's Tancredi, Dalila in Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila, and Erda in Wagner's Das Rheingold.

 

The repertoire of songs performed by Javiera Zepeda reflects her passion for poetry and showcases the beauty of her vocal timbre, encompassing major song cycles such as Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Montsalvatge’s Cinco canciones negras, and Guastavino’s Cinco canciones de cuna, among others.

 

Javiera Zepeda holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from McGill University (May 2025), where she studied with mezzo-soprano Annamaria Popescu and worked closely with renowned vocal coaches Michael McMahon and Esther Gonthier. During her studies, she also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Hartmut Höll, Jennifer Johnson Cano, James Vaughan, Wolfram Rieger, Margo Garrett, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, and Mariangela Sicilia, thus deepening her musical and interpretive perspective. As a soloist, Javiera Zepeda has performed a vast symphonic and sacred repertoire, including Duruflé's Requiem, Beethoven's Mass in C major, Mozart's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater.

 

She has collaborated with ensembles such as the McGill Symphony Orchestra, the McGill Baroque Orchestra, the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra, the University of La Serena Chamber and University Orchestras, and the Extravagante Baroque Orchestra.

 

Having graduated in 2013 with a degree in music education from the University of La Serena (Chile), she began her opera studies in 2014 under the direction of tenor Gonzalo Tomckowiack.
