Conductor

The Young and Talented Italian Conductor Federico Folloni, in 2023, he followed the production of Trovatore in Verdi’s Festival leaded by M° F. I. Ciampa and afterwards he made his opera debut with Verdi’s Traviata, 

 

Federico Folloni was born in Novellara, birthplace of tenor Franco Tagliavini; at the age of eight he began his first piano studies in the town’s music school.His great passion for music lead him to study also other instrument as violin, viola, clarinet and percussion. During his scientific school studies, he later enrolled at Music Conservatory in Parma where he graduated in piano and at the same time he studied composition; afterwards he graduated in orchestral conducting at Music Conservatory in Milan.

 

In 2000 began to teach music theory, piano and orchestral rehearsals in his town’s music school.

In 2012 he started his first experiences as conductor's assistant at Music Conservatory in Parma for “Le nozze di Figaro” production, in the same year he conducted the Bakersfield Orchestra at the Conducting California Institute under the guidance of M° John Farrer.

 

In 2013 was in the same Conservatory as assistant in Rigoletto production and then was guest conductor of Filarmonica of Bacau with Verdi’s Overtures and Beethoven symphony n°5; in the same year he was present at the conducting masterclass in Accademia Chigiana.

 

In 2014 he was assistant in Rigoletto production in Salsomaggiore theater and then he was selected for conducting competition “Bucharest Jeuness Musicales”. The next year was selected for Besancon Competition and “Lovro von Matracic” competition, afterwards he conducted the Orchestra da camera of Paris in the final concert in M° N. Thomson’s masterclass, with music of Elgar, Dvorak and Britten whereupon he conducted Bach’s two violin concert in D minor in “F. Tagliavini” theater. In the same year he was in a master’s degree of Operaverona conducting the final concert at the Official Club with opera’s aria from “Barbiere di Siviglia” and “Le nozze di Figaro”.

 

In the following years he attended masterclasses with M° Ryusuke Numajiri and M° D. Gatti, he also was selected in Nino Rota Conducting competition and Mendelssohn Conducting competition; then he conducted in Brescia the Dedalo Ensemble with contemporary music of young composer in the music exhibition “Ali del ‘900” at Teatro S. Carlino. Afterwards he was selected for Mancinelli competition in Orvieto.

 

In 2018 he became music director of the annual concert in memory of the great tenor Franco Tagliavini where he conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica dell’Opera Italiana “B. Bartoletti” in collaboration with soprano R. Kabaivanska and her students, with arias from “Nozze di Figaro”, “Norma”, “Traviata”, “Bohème”, “Tosca”, Verdi’s Overtures and Mascagni.

In 2019 he conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica “B. Bartoletti” with Beethoven symphony n°7 and Mozart symphony n°40, in “F. Tagliavini” theater dedicated to the namesake tenor. During the pandemic years he was M° S. Rolli’s assistant in Festival Verdi and in “Traviata” at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”

The next year in 2021 was assistant to M° R. Abbado with “Un ballo in maschera” in Festival Verdi’s production and also the following year in 2022 with “La forza del destino”.

He still teaches theory and piano in private music school and Italian state school.
