Stage Director

 

Director Dorian Fourny captivates his audiences with his bold and contemporary productions.

 

Recently, he directed Carmen at the Gigondas Festival and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi.

 

A stage manager by training, he also regularly works as an assistant director and manages opera and theater productions in France and Belgium.

 

He directed a version of Pauline Viardot's Cinderella in 2015 for the Festival Opéra de Saint-Eustache, as well as Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's The Magic Flute, adapted for the Church of Saint-Eustache in 2013. All of these productions were highly successful. This is why Dorian Fourny will return to the FestivalOpéra in July 2026 alongside mezzo-soprano and director Odette Beaupré in the work "Carmen de Montréal en quatre saisons" (Montreal Carmen in Four Seasons), which she initiated.

 

He directed a version of Carmen in 2012 and also La Bohème in January 2015 at the Salle Jean Lurçat in Jarny, France.

 

As a stage manager, he collaborated with the company Les Compagnons de l’Ermitage in 2011 on “Pigeon vole,” as well as on “Cenerentola” and “Lakmé” in 2013, and on “Hänsel und Gretel” and “Un amour en guerre” at the Opéra de Metz-Métropole in 2014.

 

He was assistant director in 2008 on “La Vida breve” at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne and on “Rigoletto” as part of the Musiques au cœur d’Antibes Festival (conducted by Eve Ruggieri), in 2009 on “Così fan tutte” and “Faust,” and on “Les contes d’Hoffman” in 2012 as part of the Escale lyriques festival on the Île d’Yeu.

 

Born in 1987 in Ixelles, Belgium, Dorian Fourny, passionate about the performing arts and audiovisual industry, studied at the Institut Sainte-Marie in Brussels (specializing in screen printing), before continuing his studies at the Centre Scolaire Ma Campagne (specializing in computer graphics).

 

There, he obtained his diploma as an assistant in advertising in 2010, before undertaking a work-study program as a stage manager and technician (EFPME) in Brussels.
