COREY ARNOLD
Tenor
Corey Arnold is a Lyrico-Spinto Tenor who magnificently interprets the veristic repertoire without forgetting the romantic operatic repertoire of French, Italian and German. He is also an excellent composer.
A dynamic and versatile tenor, Corey Arnold is a 2020 and 2024 laureate of the prestigious Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques and has established himself on the opera stages of Canada, the United States, Italy, Mexico, and France. Corey has been a semi-finalist in both the 2021 Vincero International Italian Opera Competition and the 2020 International Voice Competition of Marmande (France). He was also a finalist in the Clifford Poole Vocal Competition with Cathedral Bluffs Orchestra (Toronto) in 2019.
With over 30 productions to his credit, Corey has become a staple in the Ontario opera circuit, frequently performing with companies such as Pellegrini Opera, Southern Ontario Lyric Opera, Toronto City Opera, and Opera York. Recent performances include an Opera Concert at the Festival d'Opéra de St-Eustache, the Duke in Rigoletto with Opera York, and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with Opera York. Upcoming engagements include a concert tour in China in October 2024, followed by the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques Gala in Montreal.
As a composer, Corey is equally accomplished, with an impressive catalog that includes two operas, two musicals, a song cycle, and numerous choral and instrumental arrangements. His first opera, The Lion Heart, debuted in workshop form in March 2022, and excerpts were performed again with a new orchestration by the Parkdale Orchestra in February 2024. A full production of The Lion Heart is planned for the fall of 2025. His second opera, The Bat and the Bells, is now complete, while his third opera, Possession, is actively seeking commissions. All three operas feature librettos by Corey’s longtime collaborator, award-winning poet and voice artist Kyle McDonald. Corey is also preparing the release of a song cycle featuring poems by Californian poet Tyler Knott Gregson.
Corey frequently performs with his wife, pianist Nadia Boucher, with whom he shares a deep musical connection, both on and off the stage.
In addition to his artistic career, Corey has a deep interest in a variety of fields including politics, science, and web technology, where he enjoys working as a developer. He is also a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, bringing a unique understanding of movement and awareness to his work and life. These diverse passions reflect Corey’s commitment to exploring and integrating different facets of the world into his professional and creative endeavors.
