YVES LUSSIER
Trumpeter

 

Yves Lussier studied music at the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec in Montreal where he was unanimously awarded 1st Prize in trumpet and chamber music in the classes of Jacques Lecompte and Jean-Louis Chatel. He then perfected his skills with Vincent Penzarella in New York and also participated in several master classes across Canada, the United States and Europe. He also holds a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Quebec in Montreal.

 

For more than 25 years, he has performed regularly as a freelancer with most musical ensembles in Quebec, including the Metropolitan Orchestra, the OSM, I Musici de Montreal, the Quebec Symphony Orchestras, Trois-Rivières and several others. He has also served as principal trumpet with the Thunder Bay symphony orchestra, the Longueuil and Gatineau symphony orchestras.

 

We have also been able to hear him on numerous CD recordings with, among others, the OSM, OM, I Musici, film music soundtracks and advertising commercials.

He also performs regularly as a soloist in trumpet and organ concerts as well as with piano.

 

He was a trumpet and ensemble teacher at the Gatineau Conservatory of Music, at the University of Quebec in Montreal and at Cegep Marie-Victorin.

 

Since 2005, he has been teaching trumpet and brass at the Quebec Music Conservatory in Trois-Rivières.
